hello! my name is norah Rakita, and i'm a 2026 algonquin animation graduate. born and raised in ottawa, i am living in a family of seven, along with our dog and several cats.
I've always had an interest in visual art and animation, watching tanimated shows and movies since before i can remember. in elementary school, i spent hours online watching amateur animators making short and simple loops and trying desperately to figure out how to do that myself without buying any software.
in highschool, i figured out pretty early i wanted to go into animation, and i planned for it accordingly. slight issues occurred in grade nine due to a certain global pandemic, but i managed to build a portfolio nonetheless and get accepted into the algonquin college animation program.
i am so incredibly excited to continue honing my skills and gaining work experience in the coming years.
In recent years, outside of animation and illustration, i've gotten really into the local music scene and I have thoroughly enjoyed checking out new venues and going to punk and ska shows and just overall exploring the city like i haven't before. my favourite places to be are the avant garde bar and house of targ, always good music and great atmosphere.
on top of that, i've taken an interest in secondhand fashion and learning to upcycle, finding more freedom in self expression with clothes as well as makeup. i love doing dramatic looks, including clowns, goth, romantic, anything of the sort. this pairs well with going to shows, as it gives my friends and i places to dress up and enjoy ourselves.
